🌟 Cheerleader of the Week 🌟 I’m so excited to spotlight our newest teammate, Synnøve, who came all the way from Norway to join us this year! 🇳🇴 She chose cheer as her sport, jumped right in, and has been absolutely rocking it. Her energy and positive spirit make such a difference on our team, and I couldn’t be prouder of the way she’s embraced this new adventure. K-2 Art is ready to start this year off "write"! 2nd grade highlighters, 1st grade pencils, and Kindergarten crayons.

The kindergarten classes have enjoyed learning about the butterfly life cycle! We had three butterflies hatch this week and enjoyed releasing by them today so they could begin their migration journey south!

Because of the dedication of our families, students, and staff, our attendance is already off to a fantastic start. We’ve seen remarkable progress:

📈 Daily Attendance
• 2023–24: 92.94%
• 2024–25: 94.74%
• 2025–26 (to date): 96.5%

📉 Chronic Absenteeism
• 2023–24: 20.48%
• 2024–25: 13.1%

🎯 District Goals for 2025–26
• Daily attendance: 95% or higher
• Chronic absenteeism: 10% or less

We are only a few weeks into the year, but these early results show the power of what we can achieve together. Every day in school matters: for learning, growth, and future opportunities.

Attendance is a community-wide effort, and we are grateful for your partnership. Let’s continue building on this momentum so we can celebrate even bigger successes this spring!

We are excited to share our Homecoming Dress-Up Days for this year! We’ve taken feedback from past years about the confusion that came with each building having different dress-up days, and we worked towards better clarity by aligning them across the district. Looking forward to a fun homecoming week!

Cougars! Out of an abundance of caution, the FFA trip scheduled for tomorrow, September 18, 2025, has been postponed due to the recent outbreak of Legionnaires' Disease in the Marshalltown area. The safety of our Cougars and their families comes first. A new date and location will be shared once confirmed.

Today in Cougars' Critical Thinking class, Mrs. Schipper's 2nd grade scientists conducted a Skittles experiment. First they made a hypothesis, and then they recorded their findings!
